Coordination of street works
Under the New Roads and Street Works Act (1991) and The Street Works (Registers, Notices, Directions and Designations) (England) Regulations 2007 local authorities have a duty to co-ordinate street works, and undertakers (mostly utilities) have a duty to give notice of their intended (non-emergency) works, with traffic management plans, up to 3 months in advance. The 4th edition of this code came into force (replacing the 3rd Edition) on 1 October 2012. The code provides practical guidance on a range of responsibilities for authorities and undertakers. This revision replaces the version published in August 2009, and includes a revised Chapter 10 on s74 overrun charges.
