Lane Rental Schemes in England: A Framework Guidance Document. Between September and October 2017 the Department for Transport consulted on the future for Lane Rental Schemes and announced its plans in February 2018 to allow highway authorities (Authorities) to bid for and to set up schemes. The ‘Lane Rental Schemes Guidance’ for English Highway Authorities who wish to develop proposals to operate lane rental schemes was released by the Department for Transport in September 2018 and July 2021.
